Registered Service Companies Testing Information

Register Repair Serviceperson Test Dates

The Bureau of Weights and Measures has selected the following dates for the testing of Registered Service person Technicians for the year of 2026. Testing is held in Springfield, Illinois at the Junior Livestock Activities and Exhibits Building on the Illinois State Fair Grounds located at 2501 N 8th Street in Springfield, IL 62702.

If you would like to be put on our test schedule, please contact Kayla Smith at (217) 557- 3980 or by e-mail at Kayla.Smith@Illinois.gov. Please include service person name and which device(s) they need to test for.

The General Code (Handbook 44 Section 1) and Illinois Addendum (Weights and Measure Act) tests are required along with at least 1 device test for all first-time testers.

Testing will start at 9:00 am and there will be 3 hours to complete the test.

*Note: The test is an open book test. You will need a Handbook 44 (this information may be downloaded from the NIST website (www.nist.gov) and an Illinois Laws, Rules and Regulations relating to the Weights and Measures Act and the Motor Fuel and Petroleum Standards Act.

The Handbook 44 general code section 1.10 is need for all testing. Section 2.20 is needed for scales and section 3.30 are needed for all liquid measuring devices. These three sections are in Handbook 44. Illinois addendum test comes from the Weights and Measures Act.

Due to the high demand of potential servicepersons needing test slots, we require a 48- hour notice of cancellation prior to testing.
