Fairs

  • The Illinois State Fair is an annual festival, in early to mid August which centers on the theme of agriculture, hosted by the Illinois Department of Agriculture in the state capital, Springfield.

  • The fairground's facilities are ideally suited to accommodate many needs such as conferences and Conventions, Theatre and Dance, Trade Shows, Dog & Cat Shows, Livestock Shows, Motorcycle Races, Monster Truck Shows, BMX Races, Freestyle Motor Cross, Car Races, and Rodeos.
  • W.R. Hayes founded the "state" fair in 1923 because he foresaw the event as a prestigious, statewide attraction that "would be improved yearly as long as the fair exists." His prophecy has proven true since the fair has grown in stature and attendance each year.
