DU QUOIN STATE FAIRGROUNDS INVITES COMMUNITY TO FREE SUMMER FUN EVENTS
School's out, and summer fun is free at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. Whether you're looking for adventure or just a relaxing day in the sun, 750 acres of opportunity are just waiting to be explored.
Chalk the ‘Phalt every Friday in June.
We're turning asphalt pavement into masterpieces! Grab your friends, your most colorful sidewalk chalk, and let your creativity run wild. Please bring sidewalk chalk only — no paint or markers. Join us to make Fridays the most colorful day of the week!
Take a hike on the scenic Nature Trail.
New signs featuring our Natural Areas logo have been added to the grounds to increase public awareness of nature areas throughout the fairgrounds. Take a hike and look for the signs identifying our native pollinators planted to provide nectar and pollen for honeybees, butterflies, birds and bats.
Ride bikes with family and friends.
The fairgrounds offer miles of paved roads with rolling hills and beautiful views. It's a safe and family friendly way to take a leisurely bike ride this summer.
Cast a line and go fishing (IL fishing license e required for those ages 16+)
What better way to spend a summer day than fishing! And with numerous lakes and other bodies of water, the fairgrounds are a great place to cast your line and see what you reel in.
Enjoy a peaceful lakeside picnic.
Food tastes better outdoors, so pack a basket and treat your family to a picnic on the grounds. Toss a blanket near the water's edge or snag a spot at a picnic table. Bringing a big group? Consider renting a pavilion for only $60.
