The IDOA Community Garden provides an affordable opportunity for individuals and families who may not have the space at home to grow their own food and plants. Located on the Illinois State Fairgrounds, the garden supports locally grown food, food security, and hands-on connection to agriculture in a shared community setting.

Whether you’re a first-time gardener or have years of experience, our Community Garden offers space to grow fresh produce and enjoy the benefits of gardening without the need for a backyard.

What You Can Plant

Gardeners may plant a variety of seasonal crops, including:

  • Fruits

  • Vegetables

  • Hemp

What’s Included With Your Plot
