Livestock Facilities with Perimeter Drain Tiles Should Conduct Sampling in January
As a reminder for all livestock facilities designed with the installation of a perimeter foundation drain, a first quarter sampling event must be attempted during the months of January, Febraury or March. Analytical results and a discussion of those results need to be submitted to the Department within 30 days of the sampling event. If adequate water is not available, you are still required to provide the Department with written confirmation through fax (217-524-4882), mail or e-mail. If you are unable to collect the sample or submit a sample for analysis because of the current COVID-19 pandemic, please send a response stating so to the Department. Please include the Facility Name and Facility ID # on all correspondence.
**Please make sure your response includes the following information:
-
- Facility ID# must be included with your submitted materials
- Date sampled
- Date analyzed by laboratory
- Results for Nitrate-nitrogen, Phosphate-phosphorus, Chloride, Sulfate, & Ammonia-nitrogen
- Unit of measurement (ppm, etc.)
- A discussion of the results as compared to initial and previous samples
Note: Sites with multiple Facility Identification Numbers must send a response for each number. If the tile is dry, indicate this.
